Chaplin's Message
While we know that accidents happen at times, the liturgical calendar is not accidental in any respect. While January 1 marks the new calendar year, so it concludes the Octave of Christmas. Like Easter, Christmas is celebrated for eight days. There is no accident that we celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, on January 1. Jesus could not have been conceived in Mary’s womb by the Holy Spirit without her “Yes” at the Annunciation. God so desired that He be flesh and blood in Jesus that only a sinless woman could have the privilege of conceiving and birthing Him. While Mary totally lacked sinfulness, we cannot lose sight of her humanness in every other respect. Mary was shaken and initially confused by Gabriel’s message at the Annunciation, and trusted in God’s will and allowed God’s will to happen for our salvation. As her title “Our Lady of Sorrows” indicates, Mary experienced sorrows, beginning with the Presentation in the Temple (February 2) when Jesus was 40 days old, up to and including His death on the Cross. Mary’s role as Jesus’ mother was but the starting point for her significant role in Jesus’ life, and in the Church’s life. As Jesus gifted Mary to the Church in the person of John the apostle on Good Friday, she is our spiritual mother. While you, brothers, and I can never relate to the Blessed Mother’s sinlessness, can we not sin “less”? Can we not imitate her trust in God and her taking to heart the truth that with God nothing is impossible? Such imitation cannot be an accident.
Vivat Jesus!

We currently have 5 members who have volunteered for the Rose for Life
WE NEED MORE
Baptisms are scheduled for the first and third Sundays of the month after the 11:00 AM Mass. It only takes about 15 minutes to hand out a Rosary and a Rose for each child
Baptised. Some months there aren’t any Baptisms and sometimes only one.
Before the covid-19 pandemic, we had 8 members and we were able to schedule
two members for each Baptism on a rotating basis. That way, each member knew when
they were scheduled and could make any arrangements, including trading off when
necessary. Because we only have 5, it is on a volunteer basis.
You have to attend Mass any way, why not attend the 11:00 AM Mass and stay an
extra 15 minutes.
